James Laurens (1728 -1784)
He was the brother of Henry Laurens, and a
merchant. James Laurens was in poor health and did not want to
become involved in politics, so he and his second wife left for
England in 1775, taking with them Henry Laurens's two daughters.
They eventually moved to Le Vigan in Cevennes, France, where James
Laurens died.
